It was practically a royal invitation to tea with the girls and Our Sweet Adelaide. Queen Adelaide would have perhaps been delighted in an afternoon eating pretty cakes and cucumber sandwiches from a silver platter, even if it was with rabble like us?
We have recently tried out the Lady Daly’s High Tea. To be brutally honest the high tea is a dime a dozen these days and Ive probably seen it done better, the main thing about the Lady Dalys High Tea is that you are basically sitting in the front bar of a pub, so its not very “girly”. There is a charm to it though and they did succumb to our slightly highbrow request to be moved and seated right next to the warm little open fire.
The Portugese Custard tarts were seen as an overall winner from the cake selection. Sweet , with real vanilla and 100% bad-for-you-delish. The plus side to this high tea is the unlimited refills on the sparkling refreshments which we fully capitalised on, possibly becoming slightly less royal company yet had a pretty smashing time.
This high tea comes with a slight warning though, you may need someone to drive all the giggling girls home afterwards
